The Executive Board of the Balkan History Association is pleased to announce the winner of the inaugural competition for the best dissertation. For the registered candidates, different evaluation committees were created, composed of two specialists each, who expressed their opinions in the form of written, anonymized reviews.
After consulting the reviews, the Executive Board of the Balkan History Association named Mladen Zobec the winner. His dissertation “Albanian Migrant Entrepreneurs and Yugoslav Socialist Modernity: An Ethnic Economy in State Socialism” was defended in 2025 at the University of Graz.
In addition to the prize worth 200 Euros, the winning dissertation could be published as a monograph in the “South-East European History” series of Peter Lang. The winner will acquire the status of a member of the association for one year, and will receive two copies of Hiperborea.
Rezultatele concursului „Premiul pentru teze de doctorat Șerban Papacostea” (2025)
Consiliul Executiv al Asociației de Istorie Balcanică are plăcerea de a anunța câștigătorul concursului inaugural pentru cea mai bună teză de doctorat. Pentru candidații înscriși au fost formate comisii de evaluare diferite, compuse din câte doi specialiști, care și-au exprimat opiniile sub forma unor recenzii scrise, anonimizate.
În urma consultării recenziilor, Consiliul Executiv al Asociației de Istorie Balcanică a desemnat câștigător pe Mladen Zobec. Teza sa de doctorat “Dissidence in the Socialist Bulgaria, 1956-1989: Between the System of Repressions and Privileges” a fost susținută în 2025 la Universitatea din Graz.
Pe lângă premiul în valoare de 200 de Euro, teza câștigătoare poate fi publicată ca monografie în seria „Istoria Europei de Sud-Est” a editurii Peter Lang. Câștigătorul va dobândi statutul de membru al asociației pentru un an de zile, urmând a primi câte două exemplare ale revistei Hiperboreea.
