Honorary Members in 2017

The Balkan History Association has elected the following scholars to Honorary Membership of the Association in 2017:

Michel Kaplan is Professor of Byzantine History at the University Paris 1 (Panthéon-Sorbonne). He was written and published widely on Byzantine economic and social history. His studies deal with the rural society, sanctity in Byzantine society, estate organization, the economy of imperial estates and their management, as well as on aspects of Byzantine hagiography. CV

 

Paolo Odorico is directeur scientifique at the École des Hautes Études en Sciences Sociales in Paris. Author of several books and articles, he specializes in the Byzantine and post-Byzantine period. His research interests include mainly the study of Byzantine culture through literature. CV
