This webinar examines the representation of women in Ukrainian prose, focusing on the ways in which literary narratives and imagery construct, reflect, and challenge perceptions of femininity, identity, and women’s social roles. It explores how Ukrainian women writers portray women’s experiences and negotiate the tensions between individual aspirations and societal expectations. Particular attention is given to the cultural and historical contexts shaping these representations, as well as to changing concepts of gender, agency, and women’s position in society. By examining literary portrayals of women and the meanings attached to female identity, the presentation offers insight into the role of Ukrainian women’s prose in reflecting and questioning broader social and cultural realities.
